Autumn Edition 2001
SAWTRY MCC JOURNAL

THE LOCAL CLUB FOR LOCAL PEOPLE’     Club Formed: 18th Aug1999

“This News Letter is dedicated to Dave Webster

Dave sadly died on the morning of 2nd August 2001 in a motorcycle accident, whilst travelling to work. As a Club member and a close personal friend to many of us, he will be hugely missed.   On behalf of Sawtry Mcc and all it’s members I send our love to his Wife Tracey and two children, Anthony and Georgia.
Tuesday 14th August saw the sad occasion of Dave Webster’s funeral, at Haverhill. For those that were able to attend and pay your respects you would have made Tracey and his two children proud. From the collection we brought the Girls a Gold Locket each and Anthony a Tankard all engraved from SMCC.

Easter Egg Run
One of the first events was the Easter Egg run to Hill Rise Respite Centre for children in Huntingdon. Simon Sutton’s wife, Chris once again did us proud by organising the Eggs and colouring books for us to hand out to the children. For the second year running we had a huge turn out of bikes with a few new faces thrown in. This will now continue to be an annual event for the club.

France track day.
I will not drone on about this event too much, especially as I missed it but after speaking to those that went, it appeared to be a blinding success and one that should be repeated.

Off Road activity day
Dave Robinson very kindly organised a cheap and well worth Off Road activity day. The items abused by us were Quads, Off Road Carts with roll-cages (thank god) & 4 x 4 Range Rovers/Land Rovers.  Everyone that went lived to tell the tale although the cameraman, Dougie, gained a few years on his life at one point.  If you’re up for it then let us know and we’ll arrange another day.
BBQ –
Well what can I say about this event apart from weren’t the cooks fantastic. Always kept any flames down to a maximum height of 3 foot and not a casualty in sight. I think that we would all agree however that the bouncy castle should stay longer.
BMF.
Although I was working there, the BMF Rally in May turned out to be great weather and a fantastic event with most of you camping for the weekend. For those that have not been before it is a weekend of Bargains, Booze, Boobs, Music and Steve and Shaggy getting their todgers out, (you might not want to see the latter).
Rallies
Ros has offered to be the Rally Rep for the club. Those that have only been to the BMF haven’t had a taste of a local rally where the emphasis is on fun and camaraderie rather than trying to get a bargain exhaust/fairing panel/scot-oilier etc.
Ros & Dunc`s Wedding -

A more joyous event was Ros & Dunc`s Wedding. Which was at Huntingdon Registry Office on Saturday 1st September. They both wished for an Escort back to Sawtry from the Registry Office and unfortunately they were already booked so about 17 bikes turned up to do the honours instead.
This was the ride out of the year even the local press turned up to photograph the event. The party afterwards was full of surprises what with the appearance of ‘Molly Dancers’ … Yes you heard right I said ‘Molly Dancers’. If you weren’t there then you missed
